Bluebell and wild garlic Sunday 5th May at Pencarrow gardens in Bodmin. Friends of Pencarrow will be on hand with delicious wild garlic recipes and samples to taste. Bluebells and garlic will be on display throughout May.

Pencarrow House and gardens has been the family home of the Molesworth – St Aubyns for almost 500 years. Tucked away on the edge of Bodmin Moor, this Cornish Georgian gem offers plenty to do with Grade 2 listed house to visit, beautiful gardens, Iron age fort, children’s play area, café and gift and plant shop.

St Ives Food and Drink and Music Festival  10th -12th May

The festival is taking place on Porthminster Beach, there will be celebrity chef demonstrations, a wide variety of local beverages and food over 3 days, a children’s play area and also a fantastic range of music and entertainment for all the family.

The National Lobster Hatchery, Padstow

Join in the Easter fun! Children can become a Mini Marine Biologist at The National Lobster Hatchery in Padstow in the Easter holidays from 7th April to 26th April 11am-3pm. Children can dress up as a Marine Biologist, practice their lobster pipetting skills, have fun with the fishing game, look through microscopes and much more!

Charity supper for Shelterbox at The Cornish Arms, St Merryn  3 courses for £14.95 plus a £2.50 donation, Monday – Wednesday until 27th March. The pub is about a 10 minute drive from Little Egret, Porthilly View, Padstow.

Easter at Eden 6th -25th April!

The Eden Project is only 40 minutes drive from Little Egret, Porthilly View, Padstow, it is a great day out for all the family.

Head for the Eden project for a fun packed day out at a farm themed Easter event. Take part in a Golden Egg hunt with a difference and gather up eggs from the egg coup! There will be a giant scramble course and special chocolate treats and much much more! http://www.edenproject.com

Porthleven Food and Music Festival 26th -28th April

St Endellion Music Festival 13th-21st April  

Glorious music in the beautiful St Endellion Church. Listen to the works of Mendelssohn, Bach, Mozart, Shostakovich and many more composers. The Camel Trail 

Get on your bike and cycle the scenic camel trail all the way to Bodmin or Wenford Bridge. If you stay at Little Egret, Porthilly View, Padstow you can cycle from the doorstep and store your bikes safely in the spacious garage. You can hire bikes from 2 cycle shops nearby. Or if you prefer you can walk the Camel Trail and look out for Little Egrets at low tide!

 

Prideaux Place

Come and stay at Little Egret and visit beautiful Prideaux Place! We have a week available from Saturday 20th April £970. Prideaux Place is a stunning Elizabethan manor which overlooks a deer park. Prideaux Place opens on Easter Sunday 21st April and you can do a tour of the house Sunday -Thursday and enjoy a delicious lunch or cream tea in the grounds at The Terrace café.

Prideaux Place has been the home of the Prideaux – Brune family for over 400 years, the house is very interesting and has treasures, portaits and antique furniture in abundance.

Rosamunde Pilcher’s romantic novel, “Coming Home” featured Prideaux Place. Fans of her books worldwide visit Prideaux Place, she is especially popular in Germany as the National TV station, ZDF has produced more than 100 of her stories.

Winston Graham, the author of Poldark was a great friend of the Prideaux – Brune family and was a frequent visitor to Prideaux Place, he worked on his final novel, Bella Poldark at Prideaux Place, if you visit the house you can see his writing desk! In the latest adaptation of Poldark the spectacular headland at Stepper Point, at the mouth of the Camel Estuary,  part of the Prideaux -Brune estate, was used for some dramatic cliff scenes of horse drawn carriages hurtling across the cliff tops!

Late Availability Little Egret

Due to illness the weeks beginning Saturday 22nd September and Saturday 29th September have been cancelled at beautiful Little Egret, which overlooks the Camel Estuary and sleeps 8. These weeks have been reduced by a whopping £110 from £960 down to £850. Also very surprisingly we have two October weeks available, from Saturday 13th October for a week at £960 and a half term week beginning Saturday 20th October. Padstow Events

The 11th Padstow Christmas Festival is 6th -9th December 2018. Rick Stein, Paul Ainsworth and Nathan Outlaw will be back again to host free cooking demonstrations along with almost 60 other top chefs including Angela Hartnett and Michael Cains.  Also there will be a food forum to discuss some of the hot topics in the world of food. All star panels of industry experts come together to discuss the issues that are currently making the headlines, and there is plenty of chance for audience participation.

There will be delicious locally produced food and beer and wine to sample and to buy on the numerous stalls around the marquees.

The Festival is great fun for all the family, with live performers, choirs singing Christmas carols, face painting, fireworks and a host of other events. The fun Santa run and cycle is back,  people of all ages are welcome to join in to raise much needed money for Cornwall Hospice care.

 

Things to do in Padstow

Now that Spring is round the corner it is time to look forward to some fun events coming up in and around Padstow. Rick Stein’s pub, The Cornish Arms, St Merryn is hosting a Beer and Mussel Festival 16th-18th March 2018. With over 30 different beers and ciders on offer, plus live entertainment and face painting for the little ones.

Camel Creek Adventure Park in Wadebridge has two exciting weeks of fun planned over Easter from 30th March. Join in the Golden egg hunt, see Peppa Pig on 3rd April and Titan the Robot on the 10th April and much, much more fun!

Prideaux Place re-opens on Easter Sunday, 1st April the house and grounds are absolutely stunning, we joined a fascinating guided tour of the house, followed by a delicious cream tea on the terrace which overlooks the deer park. Put it at the top of your must do things in Padstow, you won’t be disappointed!

RNLI Easter egg rolling in Duke Street, Padstow on Easter Sunday 1st April 12noon -1.20pm sounds like fun! Bring your own hard boiled egg and join in!

Padstow May Day 1st May is an event not to miss, a celebration of music, dance, pagan rituals and of course the rivalry between the two ‘Osses, one the old ‘Oss and the other the Blue Ribbon ‘Oss. Be prepared for lots of music and merriment!
